We need to create our own systems for determining what and how is built here – systems that suit our social, cultural, ecological and economic contexts, and that address our actual needs in terms of safety, affordability and other key issues to do with our built environment and land use policies. We need work started on approaches that are truly appropriate for Hawai’i County and our neighbor islands.
