Kalani from Red RoadKalani Oceanside Retreat

Kalani, located on 120 acres of agricultural land on Kalapana-Kapoho Beach Road in lower Puna, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charity with a 37-year track record of service, and currently the largest non-governmental organization (NGO) serving Puna, the poorest district in Hawai`i.

More than 500 local and visiting volunteers contribute annually to Kalani’s operations through our unique programs, including our special events and festivals. Here is our YouTube Channel with videos.

Kalani’s mission is to present nature, culture and wellness in sustainable, educational programs that honor Hawai’i’s native and diverse heritage. As pioneers in charitable social enterprise, with both donations and services provided through thousands of retreat center visitors annually, Kalani incorporates practices that positively affect Hawai’i’s “triple bottom line” – the economy, the community and the environment, and align with HTA’s Hawai`i Tourism Strategic Plan: 2005-2015 strategic initiatives to achieve its stated vision for tourism in Hawai’i
